Lana Del Rey came out of nowhere to conquer the indiesphere with dark brooding music and elegant lyrics. She might not have the singing talent of Florence Welch or the pazazz of Lady Gaga, but she does make amazing music. You can hate on her for being a tailor-made hipster queen who has become insanely popular, but there is a reason her music is popular and that is because it’s great music. Born To Die is a roving epic of dark pop rhythms with a emotional vulnerability that strikes the heart. She is bearing her soul into the music and people can see that, I can see that, and that’s why I’m in love with Lana Del Rey.
